The H.E.A.T. Committees

H.E.A.T. is divided into human, environmental, and animal committees and each hold responsibilities that help the community and the organization become whole.

“We are a service organization dedicated to all aspects of positive service,” said 2 ½ year member Emily Hom-Nici.

The Human Committee is dedicated to helping others in the community and around the world. Members are making a difference locally by visiting residents in nursing homes during the holiday seasons.

They also hold fund raisers to help others in need around the globe, reaching people as far as Africa.

The Animal Committee volunteers and helps raise funds for local animal shelters along with raising awareness for the treatment of all species of animals.

A donation of $400 was donated to Paws Shelter & Humane Society after taking donations in the quad during “Play for Paws”.

The Environmental Committee holds fundraisers and sponsor projects that educate and promote environmental knowledge and equality between Earth and its inhabitants. They are involved in river clean ups, maintaining a garden at the student center, and the Clean Your Butts project.

Environmental Committee Co-Director Rachel Wilson said, “We are thinking of having a petition to increase the number of water refill stations and get student support to ban water bottles.”

Every H.E.A.T. committee is open to volunteers to help make a difference. More information is available for anyone interested at http://www.heatestablishment.com.
